When my family came to visit this summer, we enjoyed an afternoon at the Wetlands Institute. Among many other things we saw there, we visited Lois, happily swimming in her aquarium. Lois was named for the kind lady who donated her to the Institute. Here she is.
Here I am, doing what probably most people do when they visit her - putting my hand on the glass to attract her.
Here is my son-in-law, hamming it up with Lois.
And here is my grandson, looking as if he isn't too sure what to make of her.

She looks very flexible.
I've heard that octopi are some of the most intelligent critters on the planet, so I'm sure Lois is responding, thinking, "Now there are three nice-looking humans" (I quite agree!) I love how, in the first shot, she's making a heart with one arm.
and do you know how delicious they are??? (we love them in the summer in greece)

Wonderful photos. Lois is beautiful, as beauty in an octopus might be described. Her color is lovely. She doesn't seem to be the least bit offput by the presence of creatures larger than herself.

Your photos are always great! And I love Lois! I sometimes hate to see animals confined, but on the other hand, I like knowing they are safe and will be around for others to enjoy. We are losing so many wonderful animals each day and that is another sad statement about the world today.
What an amazing creature Lois is. I wonder what goes on in that beautiful mind.

You are so brave! I am so proud of you for touching it! I think that octopus (not sure how to make this a plural...octopusi (lol)...) are such interesting creatures and I could sit and watch them for hours, so I'm especially glad that were lucky enough to see Lois!
I have heard that they can get out of their tanks and move to other ones! Octopi are such fascinating creatures I think. I found a tiny one in a tidal pool once a number of years ago! You got some fun pictures to remember Lois by!
