Sky Watch

The sky in this week's pictures is reflected in gazing globes. All four have been found in the gardens surrounding the Hereford Inlet Lighthouse in North Wildwood, New Jersey. I came across each of the
se globes during different years, and in each one you can find reflected the lighthouse itself as well as the garden surrounding it, and the sky above.

Each summer the gardens at Hereford are different from the previous year. I have rarely been disappointed. Thousands of local people and tourists have been through them, and I imagine that thousands of photographs have been taken there.

I don't know why the globes fascinate me so, but they always have, and I usually attempt to capture the lighthouse in each one, and to avoid finding an image of myself there as well.

The most recent is this one, surrounded by yellow flowers.
which we saw on a visit two weeks ago.

If you visit Wigger's World, you will find our kind host, Tom, without whom there would be no Sky Watch, and a list of more than 200 participants in Sky Watch Friday.

  3. These are stunning, Bobbie! I always like your pictures but these just blow me away. I have a royal blue globe in my backyard and it never occurred to me to photograph the reflections. You are a creative soul.

The purple one is my favorite. I love how the reflection looks gold.

  6. It is well known that we Portuguese once sailed the seven seas searching for new lands, wealth and adventures.
We were brave in those days and gave the world new worlds!

Luckily I don’t have to sail the big oceans on a small ship to sea the wonders of our world …
No Sir, I just need to check with Mr. Tom, the finest host there is, for a trip around the world with SKY WATCH TOURS and with a click here, a click there I am quickly in the USA, England, Brazil, Italy, China, Australia, Finland … well, everywhere.

And on each stop I come to see a little marvel of our world under a great sky!
Hope you can come and see my piece of the sky at lenses & visions

  24. Hello! How come when we were at Hereford, I didn't see all these gazing globes? I know. How are you supposed to know. Maybe I was paying to much attention to the squirrels.

  42. Beautiful reflections and images!

When I was a little girl, I was fascinated by what was called "rose globes", mostly blue glass, in people's gardens. They went out of fashion for some time, but are back en vogue now. I see mostly blue and red globes, held up by wooden sticks, among the rose bushes.

Thank you for your kind comment on my blog!
