Today I have pictures of yellow houses. There are so many of them in our area, and here is a small sampling. First is one I think is beautiful.
Next is another lovely one - way out of my price range, I'm sure, up near the bay.
There is a whole row of them down in Cape May. They are now shops, with apartments above. Many years ago, I am told they existed as slave quarters. Sad, but true.
And so long as we are in Cape May, here is one of the old Victorians in that town, now a bed and breakfast.
What a great idea for photographing yellow!
ReplyDeleteMy own house is yellow. We repainted it a few years back from a brighter yellow to a more buttery, soft yellow. It's perfect.
And one of my favorite houses is on my commute to work each day: a large brick colonial, which is painted yellow and has white trim.
These are fabulous. I love the colors of the last one. They're great with the yellows.
Great shots of lovely houses. The nice thing about yellow is that they don't fade very much like blue does.

These are beautiful houses, all of them. I always have thought that a "Mellow Yellow" house is a great color. Very uplifting. You have great looking houses in your area!

ReplyDeleteCheery yellows all .. and I have to wonder how true the story about slave quarters is .. first, NJ is not a Southern state, second, the civil war was over in 1865 and those buildings dont look over 100 yrs old .. so I am thinking not so much truth in that... OTOH maybe I am wrong. LOL ...
ReplyDeleteOh, Deborah, there were lots of slaves in NJ, at least in our area. That particular row may or may not have really been slave quarters, but I could show you lots of places that were.One small section of the beach was even called the "blackberry patch", and they were only allowed to sit in the balcony in the old Cold Spring Church. I have black friends who can still tell stories that have been handed down.
