Camera Critters #28

Hello Everyone.

I know that the season is over. The hummingbirds have flown off on their migration to Mexico. But I miss them. I guess I'm trying to stretch the season just a little bit longer.

A few years ago
, while I was visiting my daughter in California, I took this little photo in her courtyard. I really liked it because of the shadow.

In California, they seem to have hummingbirds all year, or very nearly. And why not? It's always warm and the flowers bloom year 'round. Here in New Jersey, the season is all too short. While it is here, I hang one of my feeders right outside of my front door, so that I can watch them from my easy chair.

This little lady decided that she owned all rights to that feeder this summer, and chased away any others who dared try to visit.

I had calibrachoa blooming under the feeder, and some preferred those blossoms, or at least investigated them before moving up to the feeder.

Misty Dawn is our hostess at Camera Critters. Please stop and thank her.

Hi! I miss them too. Made me sad when I took the feeders down for the season.

These are great pictures. It is very hard to photograph a hummer and you did excellent. Lisa

I love seeing hummingbirds, but I don't have a feeder, due to my cats. I used to have hibiscus plants on the deck, and the hummers came every day!

Very pretty shot of the hummer on the feeder - it looks to be covered with dew or rain?

Thank you for visiting my blog. You just have to love Cliff! Thank for your words of kindness. I feel blessed that so many have shared words of encouragement with me. Love your photos! I have a few hummingbirds that visit around my home.

I love hummingbirds, too, and these photos are just wonderful! What cute little buggers they are!
Across the alley from us, they have a hummingbird feeder and there are a couple of the birds that hang around all winter and there was one that would fly to the same busy every day just about the time I sat down for breakfast. I felt like we were somehow communicating. It was fun!

Hummers like to get territorial. :) I bet it was grand watching them. :) ANd I love the shots you got!

These delightful little creatures do get very territorial as the summer progress; my husband refers to their antics as 'humming bird wars' with all their squeaks and squawks and rapid direct line forays across our back deck. This is a lovely Camera Critter! I miss them too but they will not return to our region now until mid-May.

I live in Southern California and it’s true that we have hummingbirds all year round. That said … I’ve yet to ‘capture’ them as you have here. Thanks for sharing. My Camera Critters is at Small Reflections today.
Hugs and blessings,

The flowers are so pretty and the little hummingbirds are adorable. I just love these pictures. I think they are some of the best I have ever seen of these little birds.

Beautiful birds. We can't feed hummingbirds because the bees won't leave the feeder alone.

Wonderful photos of the hummingbirds, Bobbie! I can never get a decent shot of a hummer, they always turn out blurry. I love your pretty flowers too. Great post!

Bobbie: What neat photos of the hummers, you got some nice shots. The boat and a trolling motor does help you get closer.

Wow! These shots are spectacular, Bobbie! I have yet to take a decent bird photo unless it's a big bird like a swan or ducks.

Well done!
