Sky Watch #41

Thanks so much to Klaus and all the team members who bring us Sky Watch each week.

A couple of weeks ago we woke to rolling thunder in the distance. It kept coming closer, until it was really booming, lightning flashing, and skies darkening. I drove up to the bay, which is where we usually see the big show in such weather. But I was surprised to see this instead.

There was still a pretty big patch of blue up there at 7:10 am.

As I started home again, I looked to the east. That was quite a different story.

Then came the hail.

And by 8:15 it was all over. This was what I could see from my front door.

I love the way thunder storms roll around. Lovely storm captured Bobbie.
Have a great weekend, without the storm if weather permits.

We had that madness here, too, though I slept through it.

Tumultuous skies! And hail! I once experienced a hail storm in Massachusetts where some of the stones were as big as golf balls. Never happens around here with hail that big. It did a lot of damage, too. My mom and I were in her empty house which was for sale and it made quite a racket. It was pretty amazing. Something I'll never forget.

Have a great weekend, Bobbie. Looking forward to those pics of the rainbow. I'm so happy you had a good Earth Day. :-)

Gosh, those are quite the intense skies. I like a good storm, always have, always will.
But they are rare around the mountains here especially if we get snow as we did yesterday!

Hail? Oh, my! Well, it left some stunning skies for you to take stunning photos. ;-)

Great shots and thanks for sharing the shots of the hail too. :-) When the sky has those open patches it always looks to me like heaven opening up.

you are so descriptive that reading about the storm is like being there. great photos! but I especially love the last one with the 'blue hole' in the middle, and the clean, crisp white cloud passing over the darker ones. Wonderful!

My Skywatch friday is up too.
Have a good weekend!

Nice set of photos - isn't it interesting what unusual weather patterns we see sometimes?
