Traveler, the path is nothing more than your footsteps; traveler, there is no path, a path is made as you go. You make the path as you go, and on looking back you see a trail that never can be walked again. Traveler, there is no path, only a wake in the sea. - Antonio Machado

I'm no gardner, so I wonder - can seeds go 'stale' - like, don't they have a shelf life? I recall that some of the heritage seeds in those seed banks are regularly rotated to keep them fresh and viable, so maybe the packet of seeds you got had been hanging around for a while, and only manage one bloom? It's a very sweet bloom nonetheless, and summer isn't over...!
from one come many :)
I love morning glories. The end of my grandmother's porch was full of them, always blooming profusely. I tried planting them in a pot on my front porch and trained them up a wire to frame the entrance - but bugs had dibs on them, I guess, because pretty soon the leaves looked like lace and the plant stopped growing.
We used to plant morning glories in our window box and it climbed, curled and thoroughly took over the wrought iron grille that is in front of our windows ... then 3 summers ago I planted 3 packets as always and got maybe a dozen plants which didnt have much grow power and when they finally flowered .. well the flowers were small and sad ... the next year no plants grew .. I am no longer planting glories and I miss them ..
I love morning glories! And these are beautiful, Bobbie! Bet the carrots will be delicious!
Have a great day!

Just one wee morning glory! Oh, my. Never fear, though: this one will likely self-seed and you'll get them everywhere in no time!
Well - I have never managed to grow these, so I think you have done very well to get that beautiful bloom.
How pretty! I can't ever manage to grow something from a seed. I once had a bulb, though, and the plant died in the winter. I hacked it off and forgot about it only to have it show up again in the spring. I was all excited, "look! I kept it alive!" It's sad that was my crowning achievement as a horticulturalist.
I have the black thumb of death. I'm so impressed you can grow something from a seed. The best I have ever managed is a bulb and I was so proud it was pathetic. It was my crowning achievement as a horticulturalist.
you were smart to plant this in a pot Bobbie. I planted them in my garden years ago and they pretty much choke out everything else! I had to resort to taking them out but I have never gotten rid of them entirely.
These are pretty nonetheless!
There is something about morning glories that lift the spirit..as do these beautiful sunsets!
Shimmering like gold
as it sinks beneath the waves,
sun bids us farewell.
