Our local branch of the library, where Rita works, and which is right around the corner from me, is undergoing extensive renovation. I just heard that it will be vacated for the duration, as of this coming Friday. Rita will be working a couple of miles away for at least the next four months. Since she does not drive, this means no more lunch time visits for quite a while.
For me, besides missing her company, this means no more of her bringing in my mail, and taking out my trash once a week. Inconvenient, to say the least. There are lots of days when I can't do that.
Too bad it has to be during the entire winter (and into the spring). That's bad news for her - and me too. And it can't be good for the construction team trying to get it all done, which might mean it could be even longer.
I will have to find something else to occupy me in the middle of each day. She will have to learn the bus schedule for days when she can't get a ride to and from work. And I'm betting, despite the fact that it's been in the papers and there will be a sign on the library door, that the people at Town Hall next door to the library, will have a steady stream of people asking them what's happening and where they can find the library. People do seem to be like that.
aww, this sounds like a drag Bobbie. I hope something works out in some way for everyone involved.
ReplyDeleteA funny coincidence, our library is about to be renovated as well.
I can relate to this post. It's nice to have little corners of your life that you depend on. Hey! Our library got renovated too. I hope it all smooths itself out for you.
ReplyDeleteAwww..I am sorry about this for you and Rita...Isn't there a neighbor who wouldn't mind bringing in the mail and taking the trash to the street...We did that for our neighbor and walked the dog of another.....Michelle

Yes, Michelle, I'm sure it will work out. I do have some wonderful people around me. And Rita will stop in after work, or my son will come by as well. But I will miss the almost-daily visits.
