Butterfly Bush and Gulls

No, there is no connection between the two - except that both gave me moments of pleasure today.


My butterfly bush is blooming at last, and so I was pleasantly surprised when I went out this morning. I love the way that bush and the orange day lilies compliment one another. And, of course my first sunflower is also in bloom next to them, which adds another cheerful note.



Most days, if the temperature gets up around 80, I just stay at home. I went out this morning because I had to drop off prescriptions. Now that I'm home, I am definitely feeling the aftermath of the heat and humidity. But, on the way home I passed a farm field where there were dozens of gulls circling and diving. Sky Watch Friday

Once again it's time to scan the skies. And thanks to Fishing Guy, Ivar, Klaus, Sandy, Wren and Louise, we have Sky Watch Friday where we can enjoy beautiful photos from all over the world.


These photos were taken a few months ago, before winter brought us gray and brooding skies. I took them looking over the Delaware Bay, along Beach Drive, where local residents like to sit and look out over the water, and wait for the sunset each night.

Sky Watch #16

Another week of sky watching! One morning the sky was just so pretty, I couldn't resist taking a ride up to Shellbay Avenue and out to the end, by the water. Had it all to myself, too, just me and the gulls, and just kept taking pictures. If you choose to leave a comment, please let me know - do you prefer just one or two pictures? Or should I continue to indulge myself by printing several?



This is the pavillion at the very end of Shell Bay Avenue.



Gulls were flying everywhere.































The pier runs far out over the water.



To the east, you can see buildings in Stone Harbor.



When I returned from the end of the pier, I looked across the meadow to the west.



Then I started back up the road, towards home.




Along the road, black birds flew up from the tall grass, and on the other side I saw phragmites. I love to see them glistening in the sun.
