Shadow Shot Sunday

On this Shadow Shot Sunday I am visiting a back road lined with phragmites. I know that these wetlands reeds are often considered a nuisance, but I love them. They are so beautiful when the sun shines through their silky tassels. On this day I enjoyed seeing the shadows they create along the road.

Thematic Photographic 27

Carmi Levy, at Written Inc., hosts a meme called Thematic Photographic. It has a weekly theme for which participants may submit photographs - as many as they like, over a week's time. This week the theme is Shadow.

I am fascinated by shadows. I also participate in Shadow Shot Sunday, so this theme caught my attention, and I decided to give it a try.

I have taken many pictures of the Shellbay Avenue pier, near my home. The sun creates many wonderful shadows criss crossing the boards. But it also creates deep shadows in the water under the pier. That is my photo for today.



I was going to save another for another day, but I believe I will put it on here. This one is of the phragmites that grow everywhere in our area. I love the shadows cast by them on the road, as well as those that play among them.

Sky Watch #16

Another week of sky watching! One morning the sky was just so pretty, I couldn't resist taking a ride up to Shellbay Avenue and out to the end, by the water. Had it all to myself, too, just me and the gulls, and just kept taking pictures. If you choose to leave a comment, please let me know - do you prefer just one or two pictures? Or should I continue to indulge myself by printing several?



This is the pavillion at the very end of Shell Bay Avenue.



Gulls were flying everywhere.































The pier runs far out over the water.



To the east, you can see buildings in Stone Harbor.



When I returned from the end of the pier, I looked across the meadow to the west.



Then I started back up the road, towards home.




Along the road, black birds flew up from the tall grass, and on the other side I saw phragmites. I love to see them glistening in the sun.
