Camera Critters #18

The critters I want to show you this week are going to freak out my friend, Lisa.

The first is one I ran into at Leaming's Run Gardens a while back. I was walking along the path near the gazebo when I heard someone calling to me. An elderly couple had gone down this path earlier, crossed a little bridge across the stream, and were calling from the other side. They wanted to warn me "Be careful!" They had seen a snake crawling onto the bridge. That's all they had to tell me. I hurried right over there to see it, much to their dismay. And there it was, sunning itself on the railing. Posed very nicely for me. I think it's a hognose.

The second one came indoors to get warm. Same friend, Lisa, and I used to work together. She called me on the phone while I was at lunch. Back I went. Lisa was up on a counter. Snake was curled happily in the hallway. (It doesn't really have two heads. It just looks that way because of the pattern in the carpet.)

Misty Dawn is our host at Camera Critters. Thanks to her you will find many other pictures - most of them much more cuddly than these - at this site.

I like your snake photos. Good captures for Camera Critters. Photographs of snakes I tolerate well; live snakes -- I do not tolerate well. LOL

I seldom see a snake, and when I do it is often just a little harmless garden or garter snake.

This guy in your picture looks like it might be a little more bigger than my comfort level is.

You are SO Funny!!! I love it...! The couple warns you to beware of the snake and you go straight over to it! I love it!

I must admit, I'm not as brave as you when it comes to snakes, all the more to give you a round of applause! I like your camera critters post for this week!

Bobbie... The pattern on the snake in the top photo is beautiful. And the snake in the second photo really does look like it has two heads! Great Camera Critters post this week!

Hilarious! I'd want a closer look too, depending on the species that is. I read somewhere that hognose snakes roll over a play dead if harrassed. What's to be scared of!?!

Why is is people are afraid of snakes? I know I jump when see one but I have no idea why!

I really thought it had two heads and I even called my hubby over to look at it.

Bobbie: I don't like snakes. Those are some great photos and that is the only way I want to see them.

Snakes can be scary. I prefer the photos to the real thing.

Lovely work, Bobbie. I'm very impressed that you took the shot first before removing your ``visitor''.

And yes, I thought he had two heads until I saw your explanation!

I'm trying really hard to get over my freaky-insane fear of snakes. The fact that I actually read this post and am commenting is progress.

Gasp... snakes... I'm not really too freaked out if they are out in the nature but if I find them anywhere else like in my house... YIKES!

Great captures. I don't mind snakes all that much but I also don't want to get to close to one either. I'm content with them in their space and me in mine. They just move a bit to stealthly for me.

I'm with Lisa!

A snake is one thing I haven't been able to enjoy in my entire life.
You did a great job on the photos!

That is a bit different. Snakes have a bad press. We just have to respect them.

I'm with Lisa! I wouldn't have been able to take my eyes of those snakes long enough to get the camera out! The lilies on my header came up volunteer in a weed patch out back of the garage. I was out walking after a rainstorm and found them. It was a nice surprise.

That is what memes make us do, I guess, go right there where we are told not to go. :)

The second snake does look like having two heads, good you mentioned.

This freaked me out, too. I would still be running if I saw one inside.

They freak me out, too! I'm not a snake person. Gives me the heebie-jeebies! Thanks for your comment on our new kitty, Lacy.

It's not just your friend Lisa you have to worry about. ;) I believe I'd be insane if I found a snake in my hallway.

Thanks for visiting me!

Now the one on the bridge I'd probably have gone to take a look at, but the one in the house...I'd have been out the door! Thanks for stopping by Spatter...

You would have laughed at how fast I left your site! Snakes have always scared me and growing up I knew that a bunch of them lived under my bed. :O)
Great post!
Thanks for sharing...I think!

Nice snakes! I keep getting close, but never get the shot with them. Probably something to do with my heavy feet...hehehe.
