Mystery Shrub

Good morning. Who can tell me what this shrub is please? It was outside a doctor's office. Saw it yesterday. Then I forgot to ask inside if anyone could name it for me. I'm sure I should know, but can't recall.

It looks very familiar. But the older I get, the more often I fail to remember the simplest things.

Found the answer, thanks to Garden Author and Country Girl. Crape Myrtle.

If anyone else needs this kind of help, Country Girl gave me this link:

Sorry Bobbie, I don't know what the bush is but it sure is pretty. I hope you find out. I would not mind having one. Still love the chicken jokes. I will check back to see if anyone names the bush!

Bobbie ~ We don't see them around here, but they do thrive on Cape Cod... could it be Pink Crape Myrtle or Lagerstroemia indica 'Rosea'? It's the first thing that popped into my mind and looking at other online photos, blooms and foliage seem to match up. Let me know if it's not and I'll keep digging. Great photo, by the way and thanks for visiting my butterflies! ... Deb

Thanks, Deb, for your quick response. Crape Myrtle never occurred to me - probably because of the setting. I see crape myrtle standing alone and very tall. I'll examine one of those more closely. Does it have berries?

Bobbie,

Sorry, I don't have any idea either. You might ask Kate at http://chroniclesofacountrygirl.blogspot.com/ She has some gorgeous flowers and plants...

Hi, Bobbie. Kelly sent me over from my blog. I'm not the flower expert, however. My go-to person for flowers is either Robin at the Bumblebee Blog, or Miss LaLa over at Mental Pause Chronicles. Here's their links:

I'm thinking that it looks like crepe myrtle because the blooms look like they're spiking out a bit. Check out the varieties on this site:

Isn't blogging wonderful? Have a great day. Thanks for sharing your pretty bush!

Kelly, thank you. Country Girl gave me the answer, as did Garden Author. Following a link from Country Girl, I found there are more than 70 varieties of Crape Myrtle. This must be a dwarf variety.
Again, many thanks.

It is a very atractive bush. To my untrained garden eye the flowers and big round buds looked a little peony-ish - like maybe peonies gone wild (not available on DVD!) but you obvisouly got some real expert advice on this.
