Did You Know?

Did you know that President and Mrs. Obama will be celebrating Passover with a Seder tonight with friends in the White House? The first time such a dinner will be held there. It makes me very happy to hear this. I remember celebrating with a Seder at a church hall some years back, in New York. The Last Supper was in reality a Seder, you know. Many Christians seem to forget that Jesus, Mary and Joseph were good Jews.

Happy Passover to all of our Jewish friends!

I second that, Bobbie, and I am impressed by Obama's embracing other traditions.

Thank you, Bobbie

The President's Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel is from an Orthodox Jewish family .. when he took this job, his family stayed in Chicago because they didnt want to disrupt their childrens schooling ..so the President has some up close & personal knowledge of Judaism

Thanks for sharing that Bobbie. I got happy goosebumps reading that. It is like a dream come true. Our president is doing such good things, God Bless him.

I second Kenju's comment. My opinion is that if everyone shows respect for each other's religious beliefs, the world would be a better place.

It gives me shivers, too, just to see our president embracing all without shunning any religion. It makes me very proud! I wouldn't want to be in his shoes because whatever he does, there are those who will critize and find fault. I'm very proud of his courage and of his determination to change for the good the face of this country. Lord knows, it's about time someone did, can think of no one better than our president.

Nana would be so excited! So wonderful to see other religions and tradtions being represented in the house of the people.

Although I'd still be happier if religions weren't part of our government at all

I have to wonder... who will be the youngest one at the table? As young as the President and First Lady are, there's every possibility that their younger daughter may be the one who has to read the four (actually five) questions.

Would that be cool or what?

I think it's great that he acknowledges all, but then again, I wouldn't expect anything less of him.

Wow, now THAT is news. I'd not heard about it. I have a lump in my throat just reading about it. Visiting other faiths is such a humbling and energizing experience that draws us all together. Thanks for this.
