More About Chickens

You know I love the Savage Chickens.

Well, Doug Savage had the following on line on Saturday:

Book project in the works

August 7, 2009 · Filed Under News

Hey everybody - I’ve got some good news! I’ve signed with Danielle Svetcov of the Levine Greenberg Literary Agency and we’re working out the details for a Savage Chickens book project. It looks like it’s gonna be a lot of fun and I’m really excited about working with Danielle to get the chickens into print. I’ll keep you posted with details as soon as I can!

In the mean time, if you’ve got ideas about what you’d like to see in a Savage Chickens book, let me know! You can leave a comment here or send me an email.

Yea! I can't wait for this one!

Electronic Gizmo Gremlins - And Chickens

Chickens first - Monday was Doug Savage's 1000th Chicken Cartoon. So he went on Flickr and determined he would draw 1000 chickens.

"Today is my 1000th cartoon! Amazing!! And to celebrate, I’m going to try to draw and post 1000 chickens today! I’ll be posting them over here on Flickr throughout the day!"

He did it!

Meantime.....

..

........................................................................................

So here's the gremlin story.

A week or two ago the TV in my living room went crazy. Very loud static and very bad snow. Couldn't really see or hear a thing. This continued for several days and
nights, and I finally decided it had given up the ghost. I have another small TV in the bedroom, and didn't really miss the other one too much. I stopped trying to get it to work. Then Lisa came over (to hang my curtain), and happened to ask if the TV was working yet. I said no, and flipped it on to show her what it was doing. It worked perfectly. It continued to work for a few days. Yesterday it went flooey again. It'll work for an hour or two. Then - gremlins!

My PhotoSmart printer decided to refuse to accept the light blue ink cartridge one day. I bought a new one. It refused that too. It keeps refusing any new light blue cartridge. So I turned to my other printer - the cheap one I usually use only for scanning and copying. It printed my photos just fine. For a while. But it then refused to scan. Two days ago it stopped printing photos. But now it scans. Gremlins!

I went back to the PhotoSmart. Swabbed the contact with alcohol. Nothing. It isn't going to work. Even with Teddy sitting there to soothe it, it just won't accept the cartridge. The contact is shot. I'm told it's cheaper to buy a new printer than to have it fixed. If I do, it won't be a PhotoSmart! Gremlins.

My computer is working so slowly I'm going crazy. I even have to sit and wait for it to delete an email now. Yes, I've cleared the cache. Won't work. Gremlins!

If any little gremlin gets into my camera, I'll really go right over the edge!

.............................................................................

Lisa called me early today and told me how she defrags her computer. I'll try that tonight. Maybe it will help with one problem at least. Here's hoping!

Something Light - Too Hot to Rant About Anything

My friend, Wyetta tells me she now has access to a computer in the convalescent center sometimes. Yea! Here's an incident she might enjoy:

My daughter, Rita is employed at the local library, where they now give us a choice of a regular sized library card, or a little one for your key chain. She asked a patron which he would prefer. His reply: "I'll take the big one. If I lose it, I'll know where it is."

--------------------------------

Well, "something light" usually mean more chicken jokes.

We like to look up at the clouds and find pictures in their shapes.

---------------------------------

Gee. It's even too hot to think of anything particularly amusing. There is the matter that Lisa and I were discussing earlier. That is - have you ever stopped to sound out some of the weird things spelled by the word verification for comments? I'm not sure I even want to mention the one I found this morning. Not that it was a bad word - just weird. Take a look at s
ome of them you see this week. Pretty darned funny. I wonder if the strange little people who make them up might be doing it on purpose.

Uh-oh. I have to add one more chicken. This is for Deb just because she mentioned pet rocks in a comment today.

Another silly one

Just in a silly mood.

I stole these from Car Talk Plaza, which I get by email:

Here's this week's Lame Joke of the Week-- two classics, actually-- courtesy of John Gregg:

When I got home last night, my wife demanded that I take her someplace expensive....so, I took her to a gas station.....and then the fight started....

******
My wife and I were sitting at a table at my high school reunion, and I kept staring at a drunken lady swigging her drink as she sat alone at a nearby table.

My wife asked, 'Do you know her?' 'Yes,' I sighed, 'She's my old girlfriend. I understand she took to drinking right after we split up those many years ago, and I hear she hasn't been sober since.'

'My God!' says my wife, 'Who would think a person could go on celebrating that long?'

And then the fight started.....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Would someone please tell Mr. McCain that there is no longer a country called
Chechoslavakia. (Surely that's not the way to spell it.)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One more chicken joke - or two:

For my librarian friends:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh yes. And the car failed inspection because the passenger side mirror is not at the right angle. It broke off - twice - and my son stuck it back on, but I can't change the angle, which does not matter in the least because I have never in my life looked into that mirror. And it passed last time, when it was exactly as it is now. Oh well.

Is That a Chicken Joke?

I just love the Savage Chicken cartoons. I get one on my computer every day. Doug Savage is just so clever.

Here's another of my favorites.

And yet another.

I also love The Office. I think it's a really great program. Does hit pretty close to home sometimes though.

I think this one is really funny too.

But don't forget, Click and Clack are on tonight at 8:, so you might want to turn on your set. (My personal opinion)
Oh, I hope it's a good show! Tom and Ray are so funny.
I hope As the Wrench Turns is just as good.

------------------------------------------------------------------

8:30pm - Just finished watching the first episode. My reaction: I think Tom and Ray had better stick to their original radio show. I did enjoy their little bit at the end, anti-cell phone while driving.

But wait - there's about to be a second episode.

9:pm - I guess the second was better than the first. (Well, it sort of had to be.)
There may be some hope for the future. Anyone out there watch it? What did you think? I'm not crazy about animated features to begin with, but had hopes because of who it was.

Click and Clack

Do you enjoy Car Talk on NPR as much as I do?

Tom and Ray Magliozzi (Click and Clack), for those of
you who aren't familiar with the show, are just hilarious as they take calls from people all over the country who have auto-related questions. They also manage along the way to give out some pretty good advice. It's on Saturdays and Sundays, around two I think. I don't get to hear it as often as I'd like. They were also the voices in the animated movie, Cars.

Anyway - my whole point is that this Wednesday, July 9th, a new series is starting.
It is also animated, and is called As the Wrench Turns. It's on PBS - WHYY at 8:pm. I guess, if you do listen to them, you probably know this already, so it's just a reminder on my part. I know I'm going to watch. Hope it's as good as their radio program. If it
isn't, Ill be surprised, and really disappointed.

You can go to cartalk.com and listen to the show if you want to.

----------------------

So, what other news of great import may I impart to you today? Let's see.

Lisa told me about a web site that I like. It's called Snap Shot Cape May. And guess what it's about. Oh - you guessed. It has great pictures of all kinds of places and events in and around Cape May. Kind of fun.

----------------------

Ever go driving down Route 9, and suddenly see a very large cow standing by the side of the road? Never fear. It's just Cheesecake World.

Don't mind me. I'm in a silly mood today.

You know, I should start getting paid for all these plugs.
But that would take all the fun out of it.

One of my favorites.

---------------------------

OK. This is getting seriously silly. And I am in danger of losing any readers I have attracted up to now. I'm even beginning to frighten myself. Better close before I go right off the edge. Maybe a nap would do it. That's it! I'll take a nap.
