Catching Up

I have lots of catching up to do. Because my family's vacation plans were side-tracked due to the volcanic ash situation over Europe, they arrived here unexpectedly. I haven't been able to do more than a quick look at blogs and even emails for a little while. Their flight was re-scheduled for yesterday, but again cancelled, so they headed up to Massachusetts for a couple of days, and then they will return to California. Very disappointing for them but I am so glad they were not in the air nor on the other side of the ocean when it happened. We do have friends who are now in Paris who were supposed to return soon. Who knows when they will make it.

On top of that, I have a brand new computer, for which I am very thankful. But it's a notebook type - nice big screen, but a very different keyboard. That's throwing me off balance. It has a touch pad as well, which I don't think I would ever get use to. Yesterday I got a wireless mouse, and am finding it so very much easier. Still, there are many things very different than I am familiar with. You know the old saying about old dogs and new tricks. It is so true!

While my son-in-law was here he taught me what he could, but there was so little time and so many distractions. So I am stumbling along as best I can. Photos are my first love, and I haven't managed to conquer that one yet. Many of our photos from the past few days have been uploaded only to this new computer. If they were on the old one I'd have no trouble. But then, I wouldn't be learning much either, would I? I can show you this one that my daughter took. We took Isaac to the Alpaca Farm.

And we went up to the Point, which included a visit to the museum there.

I do have one of my own that I'm kind of proud of even though it isn't of family or our activities in the past week. I took it in my garden. I got lucky with this one.

Think(ing) Green Thursday

Once again, thank you, Michelle, for hosting Think(ing) Green Thursday.

Just a few reasons why I care so much about a healthy environment.



























































And mostly because I want my little grandson, and all of the children who come after him to experience the beauty of nature. I don't want them to have to read about it in books. I want them to breathe clean air and drink clean water, and to know the joy that I have experienced on this green earth.

Six Word Memoir

On March 13 I was tagged for a six word memoir by Sandpiper, whose blog you will find here. To find her own six word memoir, look for her March 13th post called Boardwalking I.

Sandpiper did a fine job, despite her protests that she has not been blogging long, and knows little about such things. I haven't been blogging much longer than she. I have been tagged for one other meme, which I did the best I could for. This time, while I will attempt to do a six word memoir, I am afraid I will not go on to tag others. I found that it was not something most bloggers I happen to know really want to do. Or, those who are willing, have all been tagged so often that I hesitate to ask them to do another. So I think what I will do is throw it out there, saying, anyone who is interested, please feel free.

The reason I am doing it is that I find this particular one interesting and challenging. I thought about it a long time. All I came up with for myself is this: I will turn 76 this weekend. I am the last member of the older generation of my family still living. I have been a widow for 32 years. Two of my four children, and all of my grandchildren live in other states, and I seldom see them. Most of my old friends are also deceased, and the handful who are left are scattered across the United States. Thank heaven for the computer and email! All of this leaves me with six words:

I do not know how to comply with the rule about the original post, because I do not know where this one started. And, as I have said, I am not goiing to tag five others.
