It is Mellow Yellow Monday once again, and you can visit Drowsey Monkey to see lots of bright yellow pictures.

I have been seeing many, many political ads on TV for the men running for the Governor of New Jersey. The ads are bad enough. I've also looked at their records. I have reached the following conclusion:




I always loved Walt Kelly's Pogo the Possum cartoons anyway. Pogo was a wise little character.

Hey everybody - I’ve got some good news! I’ve signed with Danielle Svetcov of the Levine Greenberg Literary Agency and we’re working out the details for a Savage Chickens book project. It looks like it’s gonna be a lot of fun and I’m really excited about working with Danielle to get the chickens into print. I’ll keep you posted with details as soon as I can!

Shadow Shot Sunday #64

Once again, it is Shadow Shot Sunday (or Saturday, if you live in the U.S.), and Tracy of Hey Harriet is busy coordinating shadowy photos from all over the world.

My shadow shots today are of two creatures I have always found interesting. First, pictures I took last year of a mama turtle, on her way to lay her eggs.





Second, is a little friend I found crawling up the wall in my living room. Oh my! Your shadow makes you look so big and ferocious! She was really very small.


I like spiders. They eat less pleasant bugs, and spin such pretty webs.

National Lighthouse Day

Yes, there is also a day named especially for lighthouses. I have always loved lighthouses, so how could I let this one go by? I have published all of these photos at one time or another, but here they are again. Almost all of those in New Jersey, and a few of my favorites from New York and California - two of my favorite states.


First, New Jersey: Twin Lights of the Navesink, and Sandy Hook










Sea Girt, and Barnegat, and Absecon


Hereford Inlet, and Cape May











East Point, and two out in the bay: Fourteen Foot Bank, and Miah Maul





Then there is Miss Liberty, and moving on to New York, Jeffrey's Hook (Otherwise known as the Little Red Lighthouse under the Great Gray Bridge)












Fire Island, and the first I ever visited and my sentimental favorite, Montauk Point Lighthouse.









California's Point Sur Light Station, and Santa Cruz












Pigeon Point, and lastly sweet little Point Pinos on Monterey Bay.











It's hard for me to refrain from continuing to every lighthouse I've ever visited, but I think I will leave it at these eighteen.

Lighthouses are so interesting to visit. Many have small museums inside, almost all have gift shops and many are surrounded by parks or gardens. All make wonderful history lessons and you will find keepers or docents to tell you exciting stories of things that happened there long ago.

As I was leaving North Wildwood, along Route 147, I couldn't resist shooting across the wetlands toward the bridge I would soon be crossing.



I did go over that bridge, and shot again as I came down the north end of it.
