Two Awards

Gina, aka The Pagan Sphinx, has been kind enough to give me the award you see above. And isn't it appropriate that it is YELLOW, and this is Mellow Yellow Monday?(Or will be shortly) You're too good to me, Gina. And you gave me a chuckle when you mentioned that I write about my "Norman Rockwell" past. When I re-read my own posts, I guess it does seem that way sometimes. I think I choose to remember things that seem that way, ignoring the parts that were pretty far from it. Why dwell on unpleasant things?

There are a couple of rules involved, but Gina was kind enough to free us from them. Actually, I think I'd enjoy following them this time - but also with the stipulation that no one has to follow them unless they choose to do so.

First rule is to list five addictions.

l. Photography
2. Blogging
3. Chocolate
4. Weather - I keep checking it on line and on TV, even though they are so often wrong. It makes such a difference to my physical well being.
5. Talking and writing about my grandson. Well... I'm a grandmother.

The other rule is passing it on to five other bloggers:

Daryl, who writes Out and About in New York City, and does it so very well. I love her photographs and her weekly cartoon, and the fact that she answers every comment by email, and her sense of humor and general attitude.

Deborah, whose Notes from the Cloud Messenger is a must for me every day. A beautiful blog. Again with wonderful photographs. And again, presented with her own special sense of humor. I guess humor is a very important ingredient for me.

Ann's blog, Nature Tales and Camera Trails is one of my favorites. Check out her profile for her other blogs as well. Her nature photos are always so very beautiful. Fabulous indeed.

Lisa's photoblog, Villas Girl Photos, has become the first thing I check in the morning. She has another blog, which I enjoy just as much, Ramblings of a Villas Girl, but I have to admit, I am always anxious to see her photos because they are places we have visited together, or where she has gone and I am hoping to visit.

Sylvia writes Sylvia From Over the Hill, but I don't believe she is "over the hill" at all. Her writing belies that. And once again, her sense of humor comes smiling through time and again. She keeps herself well informed on the current scene, and shares her knowledge with us. Her photographs are pretty fantastic too.

Thank you again, Gina. Judging from the choices you made, we will be in very good company.

The second award is from Sylvia From Over the Hill. Yes, the same Sylvia who I named for the previous award, and who just informed me that she is giving me this one, which acknowledges effort to transmit cultural, ethical, literary and personal values, and is intended to promote community among bloggers.

I am very flattered and honored, Sylvia. That's a lot to live up to. I know that I am also asked to pass it on to fifteen fellow bloggers. That's a lot of bloggers. I know quite a few who deserve it. There are a lot of truly wonderful bloggers out there. But I'm going to have to think about this one. You took my by surprise. Thank you so much!

An Unexpected Award

I have received a new award from Dawn, of Dawn's Bloggy Blog. It is the Superior Scribbler Award, as you can see above. Thank you very much, Dawn. This is an unexpected honor, and I really do appreciate it.

Like most awards, it comes with a set of rules, as follows:

This is the third time I have broken my own rule of not passing on awards. It is always so difficult to decide who, among so many great bloggers, should receive an award. For this one, there are so many I'd love to give it to, but I see that many have already received it recently. That makes it just a little easier.

Whenever I pass on an award, I want to make it clear that no obligation goes with it. The recipients may choose not to pass it on further, just please acknowledge it so that I know you received it. I would like to pass it to:

Deb, who writes Waltzes With Words, a wonderfully imaginative blog in which she shares her poetry and lovely photographs. More recently she has started a blog called Grouse and Chortle, which I enjoy just as much. She writes no less than four others as well! Go visit and learn about them.

Deborah, whose blog The Cloud Messenger is beautifully written and a real delight. It also contains really wonderful photos, and occasionally her poetry.

Ann writes four blogs, and I don't know how she does that:

David is the author of Five String Guitar. I have been reading his blog a relatively short time, and have learned to love it. It is autobiographical and deals with his deafness and with his family. Inspiring, informative and very, very interesting.

I believe that is five. I can already think of at least five more. This is why I dislike passing on awards. There are so many others!

Many of my readers also know Sylvia Kirkwood, of The View from Over the Hill.
she is having a serious problem with her blog. She has asked some of us to inform as many of her readers as possible about this and give them her new information.

Following is a copy of the email I received from her:

I'm emailing those of you for whom I have email addresses. Google has trashed my ability to access my blog and told me that my gmail address is non-existent and they have given me a new email address for my Gmail account, so while my blog is still available to visitors, I can't post anything. I've spent two days trying to get something to work, someone to talk to me about what and why, but it's impossible. Geek squads don't handle anything relating to Google. So, my only alternative is to create a new blog, with a similar a name, The View from the Other Side of the Mountain, and my first post will be about the problem. If you wouldn't mind putting a little tidbit about this on your blog, I would appreciate it. I'll also be in touch with Ronni to let her know as well.

Trouble - Here In River City

...or wherever you happen to be, if you're in the United States.

At this point, I am weary of the discussion. I am tired of searching for the right words. But I am grateful for those who continue to try. One person who is very good at it indeed, in my opinion, is Sylvia Kirkwood. Please take a look at her blog. Look for her entries of September 3rd and 4th. Particularly the 3rd. Our country is in serious trouble!
