Sky Watch #46

The Sky Watch team: Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Ivar, Louise and Fishing Guy, have done it once again. They bring us this wonderful meme every week.

Last week, as I sat on my back deck with a friend in the late afternoon, I looked up and saw this sundog in the sky. I really enjoyed this, since I don't often see one.

What a fantastic shot, Bobbie! Isn't it just the most fun when just happen to be in the right place at the right time and be able to catch something like this? Happy SWF! and have a great weekend!

Love like sundogs come in the most unexpected places and time, don't they?

Love the images.

I love the first photo.. and the second one looks as though the sundog is going to get "gobbled" by those two stretches of sky!!!

How wonderful to capture that little sprite! It looks like it's dancing up there. Could it be a Dancing Sundog? Hey, that would make a good name for a band! (or a poem!)

Okay, not being a skywatcher - what is a sundog?

A sundog is just that little piece of rainbow that appears every so often. I don't know the scientific answer - I just enjoy it.

this is so funny Bobbie, I recently saw a sun dog too! I wonder if we both happened to be looking at the same one at the same time? Leave it to us skywatchers, eh?

I've never heard of sundogs before, spending hour after hour on the internet is not a waste of time because of all the things I learn. They are very pretty and I'm happy to have seen your photos of them. =)

Isn't it amazing how often our eyes automatically lift to a particular phenomeno, no matter how fleeting it is. Sun dogs just take my breath away.

Who let the dogs out - in summer?! Love your photos, but I'm going to have to read up on sundogs some more. I'm used to thinking of them as more of a winter phenomenon, and I obviously have it wrong! And I'm going to keep my eyes on my sky more and try to see some summer ones here - neat shots, Bobbie!
