Later - Same Day

Well, I thought OK, now I can write about it. But maybe I can't. It is still pretty overwhelming.

He said, "We have chosen HOPE over fear." Yes, please God.

He said, "Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off..." and get on with it.
That sounded so good to me.

He told the bad guys, "Your people will judge you on what you build, not what you destroy."
Couldn't have said it better than that.

He said, "What is required of us is a new era of responsibility." (Gee, I hope Mr. Bush was listening.) That is so precisely what we need to recognize. What Congress needs to recognize.

Yes, I wrote down some of the things he said. I couldn't see too clearly what I was doing, I was too teary eyed.

What a day this is!

What an incredible day for this country- what barriers have been broken and dreams shared! Growing up as a white girl in countries where most of my friends were not, I have dreamt of this day.

A fantastic post- you've captured it perfectly Bobbie. I too was teary-eyed!

Thank you!
Bella :)

Your people will judge you on what you build, not on what you destroy. I loved that statement. I, too, was very teary-eyed all day.

While I am not really interested in the balls tonite, I am looking foward to seeing the pretty dresses ..

Yes! I felt very proud, too. There is an excellent, brave leader in Barack Obama.

I feel inspired.

I think I was pretty much watching most of the morning with tears in my eyes. The excitement of that overwhelming crowd, mind boggling! I am so proud of him and of our country for overcoming prejudice enough to elect him in the first place!

I hope we are in for a change, we do need it. The world around us is like a jigsaw puzzle that someone bumped and it came apart, it needs put back together.

Well I was at work and missed the whole thing. I caught pieces of his speech on the radio on my commute home.

It was an amazing thing to watch.

I have to say - I feel very sorry for the man because I know he's bound to disappoint. He's got a Herculean task ahead of him and he's not a superhero. And yet when I watched him today, I, as most other people, felt hopeful.

PS - It was a beautiful thing to see Bush leave town once and for all!

Thank you, Bobbie! I agree with you 100% of course. I liked the line, "Your people will judge you on what you build, not what you destroy." Excellent! I'm still on a high from yesterday. Yahoo!
