Sky Watch Friday

Hello Sky Watchers! In our part of the world, it is cold and skies are gray and dull much of the time in January. We've been having snow showers too.

Even against the gray cloud cover, I love to see the plane trees that line our street, with their soft seed balls hanging like decoration.

If you'd like to join in, or just to see many other skies, go to the Sky Watch site.
Sky Watch is very efficiently handled by Klaus, Wren, Sandy, Ivar, Fishing Guy and Louise.

I know I'll be questioned (Already have been, twice) as to my designation of "plane trees". That is correct. A type of sycamore. I've checked it out.

Seed balls? I thought they were birds huddled against the cold. Great shot of an interesting tree, Bobbie. Have a great Sky Watch Friday.

I never thought of seed balls being so big! Of course I have to admit I'm not familiar with the plane tree, but your photos are beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

I don't know those trees - thanks for the info- and they do make pretty patterns against the sombre sky.

A grim sky indeed. One that reminds us of our own mortality.

Nicely rendered.

The tracery of plane trees against a winter sky--the patterns are really lovely. Thanks for the note about the sycamore.

This is what our skies have looked like much of the time too this winter, but we haven't gotten any snow & that's all I've been asking for!

Hello! Why I learned something new with "plane tree". I used to call them gumball trees. Used to called them something else when I stepped on the prickly ball:o). You know I love cold weather, but I would like to have cold weather and sunshine. But this weekend does not look promising for a sunny weekend. Lisa

That is exactly what our skies look like around here most of the time now as well. Gloomy and gray. Makes me long for spring even more! :)

Looks COLD, but beautiful ... and like Kay, I thought those were birds on the branches at first. Hope you're keeping warm. My skies are clear and sunny at Happily Retired Gal and Sacred Ruminations Friday. TODAY the Santa Ana WINDS are gusting mightily!
Hugs and blessings,
