Sky Watch - July 11
It isn't often I manage to be up and out at 6: in the morning these days, but I did it last Saturday.
I headed down to Cape May Harbor. It had been raining during the night, and was not promising to be a very nice day. Very cloudy. No brilliant sunrise. Still, I thought it was a pretty sky.
There were lots of boats at anchor, waiting for the holiday crowd.
I went on to the Cape May Fishermen's Memorial. The statue of the widow and children, looked out over the water.
The sun tried hard to break through the clouds, over the gently rocking sail boats.
Finally, as I was driving home, the sun broke through briefly.
Please visit our host, Tom, who has made it possible for so many of us from all over the world to participate in Sky Watch Friday.

Well done Bobbie
No.1 Slot.. ha! I hope it pays ff and you get many visitors to see these excellent picturs.
Hello! Very nice. It is peaceful to be able to get out on the roads before the holiday traffic begins. What is more peaceful is to be by the water. Even though the sun did not show itself, these are still beautiful photos. Thank you for sharing. Lisa
This is a lovely series of images that tell a simple story. I do like the poignant image of the wife and children waiting for the fleet to return. Good choice for a story.
Very poignant statue against a grey sky. Great pics.

Nice journey and shots.
Once upon a time there was this great and fantastic group of people who blogged and photographed … with a click, click here, a snap, snap there, all of them had a week to look upon the sky … day and night, by dusk or dawn, sunrise or sunset … and always there where great and fantastic photos to be seen when SKY WATCH was opened …
I am one of those proud sky watchers and I really enjoy each and every one of the photos you show us. I really think you are a first class sky watcher!
Really calming colors in this one! Looks like it was a good day.
Lovely pictures, very relaxing. I do like walking around harbours.
Have a great weekend.

Bobbie: Congrats on number one and a beautiful SWF post. Loved the Memorial shot.
Excellent photos, everything is wonderfully beautiful. Congratulations.
You sure got some winners this time--too bad this isn't a contest. No, if it was a contest, it wouldn't be as much fun.
You are very brave to get up so early to catch the early sunrise! I am also in my seventies. I also enjoy photography. Your photos are beautiful.
Very nice post.
You will be amazed at my SW.
Nice pics!
Awesome series of photos! Love 'em.
Great sunset!
Sunshine, although a nice thing to have, isn't always the best light ofr phtography. That earlymorning light was ideal, thoug.
Those are wonderful, Bobbie. That memorial is really something.
Lovely pictures -
The sky is the limit - or is it???
I like the cool tones in your photo selection. Happy Sky Watch :)

So lovely, Bobbie. I haven't much time to comment further but I wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you!
Love,
Gina
Congratulations on being #1. You have a great collection of photos showing different moods of the sky that day.
I love your blog. I have never seen the "amber alert" widget and added it on my blog. What a wonderful invention! Your pictures and blog are wonderful! I love the statue of the mother and children. We have lots of memorial and statues too on our blogs! I believe they are such an important tribute to a historical event. Living in Oklahoma City, Our Bombing Memorial is very special to us as well as our family, as one of our family members was killed in the Oklahoma City Bombing. I really enjoyed your blog so much! I hope you drop by my blog if you get a chance. My fiancee and his mother have blogs and postcards blogs. I listed their blogs as some of my favorite blogs to visit. Luv2gosup is my mother-in-law (to be) and Oklahoma and Beyond is my one of my fiancees that have some beautiful historical pictures.
Thanks for a nice, enjoyable reading.

A lovely, moving collection, Bobbie. These are the skies that mariners and fishermen so often see offshore and even though overcast, they are not bad days for working or sailing.
Really nice shots for Sky Watch Friday
Happy Shooting!
nice series of pictures. The skys look so calm and peaceful.
Lovely pictures! Beautiful morning sky over the water! Thanks for stopping by earlier.
Sailboats and sunrise - always appealing.
Oh these are marvelous shots. Wow the statue of the widow and her children looking out is so overwhelming.
Glad you got up early. I think it was worth it...
i admire your determination to get out at that hour. Well done! Lovely photos.
Very beautiful sunrise photos. I really like the ones with the sailboats the best. My dream is to one day sail around the world.
Lovely series. I think the third is my favorite... but the statue is quite special... all lovely.

A great series of photo's.
I particularly like the family statue one.
Great shots! Mines up too hope you can drop by... Have a great weekend ahead!
There is no such thing as as imperfect sky! These are all wonderful moments!
beautiful photographs!
Good Morning, I've caught up with your blog. Great pics here for sure. I'd have to travel quite a distance to get pics of nice boats like that.
The cartoons were great.
Also:I've come up with a good way to read your blog and still keep my stomach settled. I hang an old business sized envelope on the left of my screen to hang down and cover your sidebar.
PS: I hope he's had all the kids he wants before ol Jesse gets a hold of him.
Beautiful pictures,all of them!
What a lovely sequence. The delicacy of colour is delightful.
Bobbie, you're just like me. Optimistic! Always see the good side. "Cloudy", you said, then you prefer to see the "pretty sky".
That's a good disposition in life.
Great memorial! It fits to the grey sky.
Have a great week end.
nice you captured it very well....keep it coming...
Lovely photos, all.
6AM... no fun! It was pretty despite the cloudyy skies, but I am a little biased!
Wow! I love your sky photos! Lovely.
Beautiful! LOve the pics!
Lovely photos in that gray morning sky. Great work.
Hope your weekend is fun!
All of these are lovely photos! I especially love the one with the sailboats.
I've never been to NJ, but I would love to visit Cape May someday. Partly because it looks interesting & beautiful and partly because my last name is May. (silly reason, I know)
What a beautiful selection of SkyWatch pictures, Bobbie. Thank you for visiting me while I've been sick. I'm going to try and slowly catch up over the next week, but there is so much that it's going to take some time before I get back into a normal routine.
Isn't it just wonderful how the sky can switch from one color to another in just a matter of hours. Sometimes in minutes! Great show! Mustang Mike
Hallo from North Norway. Last week I saw all Sky Watch Friday photos and they were all great, and I hope to see them all this week too. I love to travel around the world this way.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful sky watch photos and have a great weekend!
I loved the last one...through the clouds. Lovely!!
Bobbie,
Thanks so much for visiting and leaving a comment on my blog! I hope that mine will be half of good as yours one day! You are an excellent writer and photographer! Keep writing and I'll keep reading!
