This morning there are two chicks to be fed, and the third egg with a hole in it.
I believe I've seen that third egg moving, but Mama hasn't paid much attention to it so far this morning. She's too busy feeding the two active chicks.
It makes me laugh when she decides they've had enough, and simply settles down again on top of them.

I apologize for the poor quality of the photos.

Don't you just love to watch Mother Nature with all of her instinctual behaviors? I do!!
This is so neat .. no apologies necessary .. if someone wants to see them 'better' they can go to the site you so kindly provided the link for/to
How much fun! I love reading and seeing the actions of "mothers" in nature too! Neat post!
so sweet! thanks for sharing
I love how Mama just sits on them to quiet them down
This has been such fun, Bobbie, I'm so glad you posted it!
bobbie, I was lucky enough to have a nest develop right near my back door once. 4 or 5 chicks grew up right before my eyes... :)
Wonderful, I'll have to go check the hawks out. But have the eagles hatched, too? I didn't see any feeding activity last time I checked.
