Sky Watch #34
Hello again. Sky Watch is hosted by Klaus, Fishing Guy, Ivar, Sandy, Wren and Louise, so that photographers from all over the world can post their wonderful pictures for all of us to see.
As March blew onto the scene, in Cape May County, New Jersey, the earlier signs of spring disappeared. This is what we woke up to on March 2nd.
But.... by 10:30, when I looked out of the same door and slightly to the west, this is what I saw, and my heart lifted.
My father used to say, "If you can see enough blue to make a Dutchman a pair of britches, it will clear up." Well... Daddy was wrong. Two hours after the lovely blue sky, it was gray and threatening again. Same view.
Ah, but two days later, we were starting spring-like weather again. Then came the thaw.

WOW Bobbie, It looks like you went through all four seasons in one day. Love the pictures of the ice. It is finally beginning to look like spring here in Kentucky.
You sure had a lot of lion/lamb flip-flopping that day! Made for some great shots, though!
Flip-flopping indeed! Looks like what has been happening here! These are just terrific shots, Bobbie! You've got all the seasons here! Happy SWF! Have a good weekend!
Ah .. March .. its confused, it thought it was February ....
I'd like to believe what your father said, a streak of blue needs to clear the whole sky to blue.
Back here we see up-and-down weather in the monsoons. Sometimes it will rain in bright sunshine, and kids go around singing that "monkeys are getting married". I do not know how this association came about though.
Thanks for stopping by!
These are great...I like how you show the changes over just a few hours. We had the same here in VA but is now finally starting to melt. Great pics!
March is the season for emotional weather, to be sure. We had eight inches last week and now it's nearly gone. These are a great series - esp. the fluffy branches. I can see the blue didn't stick around. Hope you get more blue sky your way this week.
Wonderful photo essay!
I like the look of the first one a lot. Reminds me of sitting by a fire reading a book or even just snuggled in a blanket watching the weather outside.
You sure had changes.
Oh, my second shot was actually the sun behind clouds, not the moon. :)
Sometimes the simpliest photos are the best, I love these.
Have a great weekend!

Never heard that one before. Maybe the Dutchman your dad was referring to was a really really big guy.
That first shot is awesome! Really puts the mood across.
March spells her name in all capital letters, I think!
Oh the wisdom that our parents impart to us!
Love the photos.
Great photos... love the snow clinging to the branches...but the thaw is nice to see also..
No such thing as a thaw going on in these parts! It's been very cold in the morning - in the teens. Today, though, the sun actually felt good late morning at around 32.
Part of my malaise is this endless winter...
Nice sky shots, Bobbie. You'll get spring before I do and I'll be so glad for you!
Aah - flip flop skies... hang in there, those clouds will lift eventually. Pretty Sky.
Gracious! This is just like the midwest!
Great pictures. Your weather sure changes a lot very quickly.
Have a great weekend.
You seem to have had a bit of an storm over there. We have friends who moved to New Jersey a couple of years ago from South Africa. I must ask them if the know Cape May.
There is HOPE in the sky. It will come!
Great shots! I never heard that saying before about the Dutchman's britches. Neat!
I love the first shot with the buds and snow. Beautiful. Lisa
What a day! Amazing variety in your photos.

March weather is always fickle as nature tries to make up its mind to let spring return!
