Winter Is Still Here

As I write this post, the TV weatherman is telling me that "It's just a dusting" and isn't laying on the streets, but only on the grass and the hoods of cars. My advice to him would be to look out of the window.

I know I shouldn't complain. I've seen the pictures from all over the country, and compared to them, we do have just a dusting, and have had no more than that all winter. I guess everything is relative, as they say. Our "dusting" is enough to keep me from going out. I just cancelled a second doctor's appointment because of it. I don't dare try going down the handicap ramp.

It's all the more discouraging because just yesterday it was warm and lovely. In the evening I went up to the park by the ferry and took sunset pictures for the first time in a couple of months. This morning I had to write a note to my friend, Wyetta, and tell her I don't know when I'll get up to see her again.

Well, maybe I'll dig out some pictures from last summer, and just enjoy the colors and
remember the warm sunshine.

Yeah. That's a good idea.

LOL! And further proof (though none was probably needed) that all weather stations are built without windows! Those flowers are the perfect antidote!!

Yes, that was a wonderful idea and I loved seeing all the beautiful colors and lovely flowers! Just what I needed today, too. Although we do have a little sunshine and it's actually supposed to be in the mid 50s today, but I'll believe when I can read it on the thermometer. Thank you for posting your beautiful shots!

Why is it that the weather people are always wrong? If we made that many mistakes, we would be fired.
Your flower pictures are so beautiful on this dreary day.

I needed this shot of color today...just lovely! I'm going to stay away from the windows for the next little bit: it's still snowing outside, and the temperature is diving yet again. Sigh...

Bobbie, your beautiful flowers are a wonderful reminder to me of what is in store for all of us (hopefully) sooner than we think!

Beautiful flowers, it's like seeing a beautiful colorful display of fireworks lit up on your blog! Pretty!

Bobbie, you chose a wonderful way to defy the weatherman and the snow and now we all get to enjoy it as well!

Great pictures. I'd say you and I have the same opinion about weather people.

There is such a long way to go before the snow is even partially gone here. I suspect, even if we don't get another major storm, that there will be snow on the ground for another four to five weeks, if it stays cold. Then there is mud season in April and the occasional nice day, if we're lucky. Only May can we begin to truly say that winter is gone for good. Sigh.

we got a couple of inches that almost immediately turned to ice

I enjoyed looking at your flowers. I don't know how to get them to line up like that.

Love the flowers. Do you know what that yellow one is in the upper right corner? I saw some on the road down the mountains one day and pulled over just to get a shot. I've only ever seen them there. I thought it was a flowering weed but it was beautiful.

2sweet - That is actually the first crocus that bloomed last year.

Great color! Thanks for the assurance that spring will return, despite the lying weathermen... we just received 8" of "flurries," but are promised a weekend warm-up.

Is that pink Mandevilla the same "Dr. Seuss vine" that's spending the off-season twining its way toward the front door? /Deb

Yes, Deb, that is indeed the same Mandevilla/aka Dr.Seuss plant.

I'm so glad you dug those out. Everything is all brown and dried out looking, outside. It's nice to remember what will be here in a few months.
